About the Journal
Present Stage of Development
Journal of Chemistry Interfaces (JCI) is currently in its initial establishment and development phase. The journal is preparing its editorial policies, author guidelines, peer-review procedures, publication ethics framework, and other essential journal information while inviting qualified scientists from around the world to participate in the development of the journal.
The journal will progressively expand its international Editorial Board, reviewer community, authorship base, and publication programme as it develops.
JCI is an international, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to advancing the understanding of chemical processes, phenomena, and interactions that occur at interfaces and boundaries between different phases. The journal provides a multidisciplinary platform for high-quality original research, reviews, perspectives, and other scholarly contributions addressing the fundamental principles and emerging applications of interfacial chemistry.
Interfaces play a central role in a wide range of chemical, physical, biological, and technological processes. From molecular interactions at solid–liquid and liquid–liquid boundaries to the behavior of colloids, emulsions, gels, nanofluids, membranes, and functional materials, interfacial phenomena influence the performance and functionality of systems across chemistry, materials science, energy, biology, medicine, environmental science, and industrial technology. JCI aims to bring together researchers working across these diverse areas and to encourage interdisciplinary approaches to interface-related problems.
The journal welcomes experimental, theoretical, computational, and multidisciplinary studies that provide significant new insights into interfacial structure, dynamics, interactions, reactivity, transport, and functionality. Particular emphasis is placed on research that establishes meaningful relationships between molecular- or nanoscale interfacial phenomena and their macroscopic properties, performance, or technological applications.
The scope of the journal encompasses, but is not limited to, surface and interfacial chemistry, colloidal and dispersed systems, surface-active molecules and surfactants, self-assembly, wetting and adhesion, emulsions and foams, gels, nanofluids, interfacial transport and fluid dynamics, electrochemical interfaces, membrane interfaces, biomolecular interfaces, and functional interfaces in advanced materials.
The journal also encourages research exploring the role of interfaces in emerging areas such as energy conversion and storage, catalysis, nanotechnology, biotechnology, drug delivery, biomedical materials, environmental remediation, sustainable technologies, and industrial processes. Studies combining chemistry with physics, materials science, engineering, biology, medicine, or computational science are particularly appropriate when the interface is central to the research question.
Through the publication of rigorous and scientifically significant research, JCI seeks to promote a deeper understanding of interfaces and their role in controlling chemical and physical processes. The journal aims to serve researchers, academics, scientists, and professionals seeking to develop fundamental knowledge and innovative applications of interfacial chemistry.
